1971
Graeme Elphinstone moved from Burnie to Triabunna on Tasmania's east coast working as a log feller
Picture is of the first log trailer he built
1972
Graeme Elphinstone started doing welding and chainsaw repairs from a shed next to the house
This picture is of his first major manufacturing job, a set of loader forks
Later in the year Graeme became a Stihl chainsaw dealer
1976
Purchased 2Ha block of land in Triabunna, Tasmania and started full time business as Elphinstone Saw Centre
Imported and fitted the first on-board weighing system in Australia and fitted it to a log truck
1977
Designed and built first Elphinstone folding pole tandem Jinker
1978
First platforms built by Elphinstone and installed in Wynyard, TAS. Featured stop/go lights and automatic weighing of axle groups.
1980
Designed and developed Australia's first "Stretch" mudguard system
1981
Built first Elphinstone folding tri-axle Jinker
1982
Supplied platform scales to weigh Group C Touring Cars — Simmons Plains Raceway
Supplied first platform hire at Bicheno, TAS.
1983
Designed and built the "Tri-Beam" suspension
Built the world's first self loading road train with 4 axle dog
Introduced "Air transducers" for air suspensions
First Tipper we fitted with scales
First Tanker we fitted with scales
Fitted first on-board scale system to explosives trucks
1985
Won the "BHP Steel Award" for innovation with design of the "Tri-Beam" suspension
Built custom trailer for transporting fuel tanks in Antarctica
Purchased our own truck. T142 Scania carting hardwood from southeast Tasmania to Triabunna woodchip mill
1986
Built the Worlds First folding skeletal trailer, the Fold-A-Skel™
Upgraded our T142 Scania to Tri-beam suspension
Graeme Elphinstone was a finalist in "Tasmanian of the Year" Awards
1987
Grant Elphinstone joined the business full time
1988
Built the first Elphinstone B-Double
This was the first in Australia with tandem lead, Tri-Axle rear B-Double
1989
Designed and built the first Easyweigh Radio Remote Indicator system Features ability to swap trucks and trailers without re-calibration
1991
Built special heavy duty tandem trailers for Tanzania, Africa
Built 200t mining platforms scales
1992
Started building all our own electronics for scales
First version of Elphinstone Auto Tensioning Load Binder
1993
Built first Elphinstone self loading Tri-Tri B-Double
Started export of scales and B-Doubles to South Africa
Design in principle of Easyloader™ B-Triple
Started design and manufacture of special purpose trailers for Antarctica
1994
Designed and built special purpose Zinc-A-Skels
Feature fast load/unload with 'Gull Wing' load restraint system
Built special purpose "Sandgroper" log trailer
4m wide bolsters and 747 aircraft (high floatation) wheels for soft sandy conditions
Built our first hydraulic folding skel
Built first traverse trailers for Antarctica
1995
Introduction of air suspensions to our trailers
1996
Grant Elphinstone moved to Melbourne to open the Victorian branch of Elphinstone Weighing Systems working from the back of a Ford Ute
1997
Developed "Elphlink" log Jinker
Features single axle dolly for increased payload
Introduced 19.5" wheels to Jinkers and Skels
Built first "Easyloader™ Tri-Tri B-Double"
Graeme Elphinstone was a finalist for "Celebrate! Tasmania"
1998
Built first Tandem-Tandem Easyloader™ B-Double
Introduced Tandem and Tri-Axle Jinkers to rear of Easyloader™
Opened Sydney Branch
1999
Rented building in Melbourne for the Victorian Branch
Winner "Australian Trailer of the Year" for Easyloader™
2000
Graeme visited Antarctica to see our equipment first hand driving a snow train for 1100km to Dome C
2001
Started Manufacture of our own Loadcells
2002
Started building trailers on skis for Antarctica
2003
Opened Western Australian Branch
2004
Purchased New 810m² Building in Sunshine, Melbourne
2005
Designed and built world first self loading B-Triple
Graeme visited Antarctica again. This time driving a Kassbohrer to grade the road
2006
World first self loading B-Triple introduced to market
2007
Designed and built world first self loading Road-Train
Doubled trailer production
Purchased the second 810m² building in Melbourne next door to the original
Developed Easyweigh Multi Channel Indicator system. Can display up to 15 channels. Suitable for multi combinations such as road trains
2008
Easyloader™ Long Logger — 19m single length loads on 26m B-Double (PBS Approved)
Australian first
Developed modular building support system for Antarctica
2009
Designed and built heavy duty low loader on skis for Antarctica
2010
Developed wireless Loadcells for skips
2011
Graeme visited Antarctica again for another Traverse
2011–2013
Developed Easysteer™ suspension system
2014
Purchased a third 810m² building in Melbourne next to our original making 2,430m² for office, store and workshop with drive through B-Double access
2015
Designed and developed the EasyView application to remotely view and log weights on your Android smartphone or tablet
